XDM is X Display Manager, it simply and useful on FreeBSD through :))

Install XDM it from ports :
cd /usr/ports/x11/xdm
make clean && make install clean

Make it automatically start at boot time:
ee /etc/ttys

Change the line:
ttyv8 "/usr/local/bin/xdm -nodaemon" xterm off secure

ttyv8 "/usr/local/bin/xdm -nodaemon" xterm on secure

So xdm will automatically start at tty #8 or just run

To start xfce just insert your current user & password on xdm login, don’t forget to add the

exec startxfce4

line to ~/.xsession or ~/.xinitrc for current user, it will make a xfce4 started when we type startx on console too.
